About the piece

In Dark Waters was my first oil painting, and it is very dear to me. It is my favorite piece of the ‘Set Sail’ collection, and depicts a burning ship in the midst of the night, the juxtaposition of the dark water and flames roaring towards the sky.

Care

Avoid direct sunlight to prevent the painting’s premature deterioration.

Keep in a stable environment to prevent the canvas from expanding and contracting, which can lead to hairline cracks. Avoid hanging in near vicinity of fireplaces, radiators or air conditioners. Bathroom and kitchen are unsuitable due to the risk of high-moisture.

While the painting is varnished, keep in mind that the painting will naturally discolor over the next 30 to 50 years. A professional can safely remove the old varnish and re-varnish it as needed.
