About the piece

I got to be very experimental with this alla prima, focusing on giving the illusion of detail despite working in big strokes with large brushes. It depicts the back of a sailboat as it takes on the stormy sea.

Care

Avoid direct sunlight to prevent the painting’s premature deterioration.

Keep in a stable environment to prevent the canvas from expanding and contracting, which can lead to hairline cracks. Avoid hanging in near vicinity of fireplaces, radiators or air conditioners. Bathroom and kitchen are unsuitable due to the risk of high-moisture.

While the painting is varnished, keep in mind that the painting will naturally discolor over the next 30 to 50 years. A professional can safely remove the old varnish and re-varnish it as needed.
